Mukesh K. Jain, MD, Chief Scientific Officer, Harrington Discovery Institute, is Chief Academic Officer, University Hospitals Health System; Chief Research Officer, University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute; the Ellery Sedgwick Jr. Chair & Distinguished Scientist, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, and Vice Dean for Medical Sciences, and Professor of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Jain is internationally recognized for studies that established a central role for a family of genetic factors called Kruppel-like factors in cardiovascular biology, innate immunity, and metabolism. Dr. Jain’s clinical and academic contributions are recognized by numerous awards and honors including election to the National Academy of Medicine, the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI), American Association of Physicians (AAP), and Association University Cardiologists (AUC). He is the 2015 recipient of the Judah Folkman Award in Vascular Biology from NAVBO. Dr. Jain is a member of the American Heart Association’s Advancement of Science and Basic Science Council, serves on multiple editorial boards, and has been the recipient of numerous NIH grants, including the NHLBI Outstanding Investigator Award. He is a past president of the ASCI.
Dr. Jain received his MD from the University of Buffalo, School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and completed a cardiology fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
