Ron Harrington, with his wife Nancy and their family, has shown an unwavering commitment to improving patient care by advancing promising discoveries into new medicines. Their legacy began with the establishment of the University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute and grew with a landmark $50 million gift to launch Harrington Discovery Institute. Under their stewardship, Harrington Discovery Institute at University Hospitals has made remarkable strides: advancing 201 medicines in the making, supporting 71 institutions, launching 39 companies, and progressing 21 medicines into the clinic.
Through their generosity and vision, the Harringtons have inspired more than $100 million in additional giving, amplifying their impact on patients and families worldwide. Ron’s commitment to improving healthcare and fostering innovation embodies the essence of the Pillar Awards.
