In May 2019, leaders in science, medicine and academia traveled to Cleveland, Ohio for Harrington Discovery Institute’s 7th Annual Scientific Symposium. During this two day event, Harrington Scholars from institutions across the US and the UK had the opportunity to network with one another, as well as with other leaders in science and industry, and present their work to the Harrington community.

The first evening commenced with 2016 Gund-Harrington scholar, David M. Gamm, MD, PhD sharing his experience as a scholar. The Keynote Lecture was given by Carl H. June, MD, 2019 Harrington Prize recipient, from Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

The Keynote was followed by a dinner at the historic, Severance Hall. During the dinner, Harrington Scientific Advisory Board member, William G. Kaelin, Jr., MD, spoke about the experiences and opportunities that brought him to where he is today.

On the second day of the Symposium, Managing Director and Head of Philanthropy Management at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and President of Morgan Stanley Global Impact Funding Trust, Melanie Schnoll Begun, gave a luncheon presentation at the Cleveland Botanical Garden.
