In 2014, the Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB), a non-profit chaired by Cleveland native Gordon Gund, and Harrington Discovery Institute at University Hospitals Case Medical Center announced they would be collaborating to form the “Gund Harrington National Initiative for Fighting Blindness". This initiative focused on finding treatments and cures for people affected by inherited retinal diseases that lead to blindness. More than 10 million people in the United States are affected by this type of vision loss.
